You may have gathered by now, particularly if you viewed Annabel's nightmare movie, The Bogey Monster of Ravensbreath Castle, that Molly really loves her worms, slugs, spiders and bugs, as well as frogs, toads, anything goes, especially the slimy, gooey, nasty things that crawl, slither or splat.

In the dungeon, under the stairs, anywhere her insect friends were is where she'd spend time playing.

Molly kept busy by playing kings and queens with earwigs, placing them on tiny thrones made of leaves and wood chips.
Of course the earwigs would never stay seated but Molly reasoned they had battles to fight and kingdoms to conquer.
Earwig queens made brave warriors, Molly would say.

It was on a Wednesday afternoon, or evening, or perhaps the middle of the night, that Molly first began making clothes for her multi-legged friends. She fashioned a tiny emerald green waistcoat and matching bowtie from dead butterfly wings for Charles d'Olivier, a friendly black beetle who helped her collect scraps for the new hobby.

Charles d'Olivier looked suave and dazzling and enjoyed showing off his dapper duds to friends, even the ghost children were impressed, except Annabel Lee wanted to step on Charles.

But there were some things that did frighten little Molly, monsters. She preferred what she could understand and she could not understand monsters.

Unfortunately many of her insect friends lived in ghoul infested neighbourhoods so it meant keeping a keen eye when she played in those places.

There is much more to Molly's story and will be told in time.
Molly will haunt you forever. |
