This is the creepy story of how Molly got left behind in the mill. It started out fine. She and the other orphans were having their photos taken on an outing in Cornwall. Here she is posing in the graveyard near Tintagel, the legendary birthplace of King Arthur.

Percy & Annabel Lee.
Just over the hill is the Atlantic Ocean.

We set up for a photo shoot in the ruin of the old Trivellet Mill
Two labyrinth carvings, possibly from as early as the Bronze Age (1800-1400 BC) were discovered on the wall behind the mill.

Along with holding witchcraft rituals around the mill and in the valley itself, people come from all over to leave little offerings tied to the trees or set on the rocks. These are called clooties and represent a prayer of healing or perhaps a secret wish. It is said, once the clootie has rotted away the wish will come true. That might explain the occasional tissue tied around a branch! Notice our ghost orphan Boo hanging amongst the clooties?
Here is a straw bracelet left on a rock shelf. Usually these are made by Wicca (good) witches. Here is an explanation about wicca

Then it was off to meander through Rocky Valley, known for its hauntings and white witchcraft practices. And easy to see why. The valley is a most magical place to get in touch with nature. To learn more about this area and the very enchanting St. Nectans Glen, click here.

So back to Molly's adventure.
Later, when we got home I realised I left Molly posing in a crack in the wall of the old mill!

Left all night, alone in the dark with spirits (not that she isn't one herself!) and witches about.
Was she okay? Would she survive the night? Would she be there in the morning?!!

The next morning my gallant knight Rob, fearless dog Jack and I raced back over to Rocky Valley (about 40 min drive) to rescue little Molly. Oh dear, what will we find?!

Oh no! Poor Molly! What ever happened in the night to make her fall off the wall and land face down on this cold slab of stone?

I took a deep breath and nervously turned her over...

Thank goodness! She's ok!  A few more smudges but she's so grimy to begin with, after years of eating rats and bugs, who would notice. Molly always has been the most resilient ghost of the bunch. She'll be fine.  I think. I'm looking forward to hearing her story of what took place, if anything, in the night in the haunted valley.

We took Molly for a stroll down the pretty valley path, along the stream that opens to the sea. She will have a lot to tell the others back at Ravensbreath Castle.
