Ratgirl
is obviously not her real name and how she came to be
called that is a long story - too long to go into now. (it's in the book) But I can tell you that
Annabel did this to her. She warned her repeatedly not to push
things but Ratgirl considers herself high above everyone else.
Ratgirl before the spell
Ratgirl
was a very pretty girl before the 'transformation', as shown
in the portrait above. Not only did she act like a princess
but she was indeed a princess from a very small country that
no longer exists.
Ratgirl
is around 5 1/2 inches (14cm) tall. Fully jointed, grunged and
singed.
There is a wire in her head for hanging.
She's
also a ballerina...
and
one day, while dancing around the castle, as she has a habit
of doing, she told one of the other ghost children something
about Annabel and Percy's parents, which Annabel warned her
not to do countless times. Ratgirl would not be bullied, especially
by Annabel and blabbed that one terrible thing anyway.
Annabel
said "I warned you not to be a dirty rat and talk about
that terrible thing but you never listen!" and she transformed the dancing princess into a rat girl with rat
ears, whiskers and a long pink tail. And to make sure she would
never rat again Annabel magically sewed her mouth shut with
embroidery floss.
Ratgirl
did have beautiful long blonde hair, but Annabel turned it white
rat white - still, she has dazzling blue, somewhat angry eyes.
She wears fine laces on her dress and a pink satin bodice. Two
(singed) tuelle petticoats cover her shapely dancer legs. Signed
and dated in back.
There
is much more to Ratgirl's story, as with all the children
and will come in time.
